Twitter fixes HTC Peep, no need to flash a new rom

Posted on 09-03-10

Unless you're "too cool" for Twitter, you've heard about Twitter's recent switch to OAuth, and the effect it has had on various clients. One of the most major of these was HTC Peep, the Twitter client used in HTC Sense on both Windows Mobile and Android devices. Twitter disabled Basic Authentication after much warning on August 31st, which caused HTC Peep to return little more than an error message when attempting to connect to Twitter.

Now, HTC reports that Twitter has fixed the problem, implying that Basic Authentication has been temporarily allowed for HTC's use. This is good news, as it means you won't have to flash a new rom, erasing all your data, for something as small as Twitter. The only question is, how long will it last?
