MeeGo 1.1 now running on the HTC HD2

Posted on 01-01-11

As if the HD2 already didn't run enough operating systems, MeeGo 1.1 has now been successfully ported. Steve Troughton-Smith, the developer who successfully ported MeeGo, started with the fact that with MeeGo running on the Nexus One, a device with similar hardware to the HD2, porting should be possibly.

Using the Ubuntu kernel and MeeGo system files, the port was completed in a number of hours. The port isn't perfect, as MeeGo's touchscreen has some minor issues and the WiFi connection won't assign an IP address, but nevertheless, MeeGo has been added to the ever growing line of operating systems the HD2 is capable of running.
