Even though the beta has been out for some time now, and the Community Tech Preview even longer, Microsoft has officially released the development tools for Windows Phone 7 to the world. This version of the tools must be used to develop apps for the marketplace, and comes with a few enhancements, namely panorama and tilt controls. We're installing them now to see if anything significant has changed on the emulator side, but keep in mind that you must uninstall any previous version to use them. Also, reports are coming in that developers with actual devices will not be able to deploy using this build, which will hopefully be fixed soon.
From the download page:
The Windows Phone Developer Tools includes the following
- Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone
- Windows Phone Emulator Resources
- Silverlight 4 Tools For Visual Studio
- XNA Game Studio 4.0
- Microsoft Expression Blend for Windows Phone
Download them here to give them a shot, and let us know what you think.
