Ode to the HD2

Ode to the HD2. It is surely an amazing device, and I get stares from everyone when using it. It's huge, it's fast, it's slim, but most importantly, it's unique. It's like owning an iPhone when the iPhone first came out. On the other hand, the HD2 is far from perfect. In the few days I've used it, I've noticed some issues. Some of which were probably due to installing unsupported applications. Others, I'm not too sure. I've had to reset the device on a few occasions. Normally this is fairly painless, but on the HD2, you have to pry open the battery case to get to the reset button. I've also had it do some fairly weird things, such as not notify me of an incoming call. Now, to be entirely honest with you, the device is running a custom ROM. And when I say custom ROM, I mean, a very crappy custom rom. I assume flashing a new rom will fix some issues, but in the meantime, it's fairly annoying. Aside from small issues I've had (mostly caused by the early build of WM 6.5.3 installed), I've noticed some other issues. There's not enough software for it. While there's some great pre-installed applications (Opera, for example), there's no great third-party apps that take full advantage of the compass, G-Sensor, multitouch, etc. Infact, you can't even update Opera, because that gets rid of multitouch support. Hopefully, since the device is still fairly new, these problems will be addressed. Otherwise, those hackers had better hurry up and get Android for it. Aside from all these issues, the device is beautiful. I never noticed how big 4.3 inches was until I was holding it in my hand next to my old phone. Once you switch, you can never go back.
