Windows Phone Hacker was started in 2009 to be home to a series of guides involving Windows Mobile. During that year, Windows Mobile turned into Windows Phone, and early in 2010, Microsoft announced that the HTC HD2, Windows Mobile's strongest device, would not be receiving an update to Windows Phone 7. This leaves the Windows Mobile applications to be stranded to Windows Mobile, and for the Windows Mobile hardware to be, well, you get the point.
While Microsoft did not completely kill Windows Mobile, the chances of getting updates are becoming slimmer and slimmer as Windows Phone 7 approaches. Now, don't get us wrong, we love Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7 is exactly what Microsoft needed to pull to save it's mobile platform. However, the mere fact that Windows Phone 7 runs different hardware and software than Windows Mobile put us in a sticky situation. Finally we came to the decision that Windows Phone Hacker needed to become more focused on keeping support out for the legacy WM devices. Because of this, we are now proud to announce the launch of our new sister site, WindowsPhone7Central.com.

Windows Phone 7 Central will become your home for all the latest WP7 news, as well as apps, tweaks, and hacks once the platform is released. The website is not meant to replace Windows Phone Hacker, of course, but is meant to allow a more focused website to better suit our readers.
Of course, we're not kicking Windows Phone 7 off the plate. Windows Phone 7 (and the Kin, for a time) is part of the Windows Mobile family, and thus it will always stay covered in our topics.

So what's Windows Phone Hacker becoming, then? Windows Phone Hacker is moving to become what it originally was designed to be: a home for Windows Mobile hacks, tweaks, recommended applications, etc. As Windows Mobile's legacy sets in the west, Windows Phone Hacker will be here every step of the way, providing news, apps, and support.
But as Windows Mobile darkens in the dust and Windows Phone 7 rises in all it's glory, we'll be providing you with ways to keep your Windows Mobile devices up-to-date, including Themes, stable applications, Android installation guides (if you're desperate), or even hardware tweaks for when your devices have out valued their disposal.
Conclusion
So to all our readers today, welcome to the new Windows Phone Hacker, home of Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7, and the Kin.
And if you're jumping ship to Windows Phone 7, be sure to visit WindowsPhone7Central.com, where we have the latest news, device listings, apps, and even discussion of the upcoming platform.
